The headword, variously spelled as either qeatrokrasi/a or qeatrokorasi/a by the lexicographers, is presumably a version of Plato's coinage qeatrokrati/a (Plato, Laws 701A [web address 1], noted by Pollux 4.121): in the "democratic" Athens of his day, he laments, audiences think they can judge what is good in music -- and, by extension, politics.
