Notes:
This name is best known -- and in its eta form -- as that of Theodoret of Cyrus, the biblical commentator. His work is frequently cited in the Suda without mention of his name. A follower of the Antiochene school of exegesis, he refused to condemn Nestorius; nevertheless his commentaries continued in high repute among the orthodox.
