Dion] himself made no remark, observing the calm injunction of wisdom; staying inside his own gatehouse and displaying no anger, he said to the young man not even a grunt; and the latter, in despair, hanged himself. The [term] grunt is is said of something small and random. Also [it means] the crud under the nails.
