That of a woman. Given with an eta in the Suda, 'Tabetha' is a variant spelling of 'Tabitha' with an iota or 'Tabeitha' with epsiloniota: pronunciation would be identical. This personal name occurs in the Bible at
Acts 9.36-42 ('Now in
Joppa there was a disciple whose name was Tabitha, which in Greek is Dorcas', etc.); Aramaic 'tabitha' and Greek 'dorcas' (
