Same entry in Photius (tau1 Theodoridis) and in the D scholia to Homer, Iliad 1.125 (where the headword occurs); similar (longer) ones in Apollonius' Homeric Lexicon and in Hesychius. The headword is the pronoun/adjective o(, h(, to/, here in the neuter plural nominative/accusative ta/.
Originally a demonstrative, as in the epic dialect. It later became reduced to the function of a definite article, in the same manner as the Romance definite article developed from Latin ille, illa, illud.
