Name of a river.
*sa/lhc: o)/noma potamou=.
Adler reports that ms. F has 'name of a place', but a river Salex in 'Libya' is mentioned by
Philostratus,
Life of Apollonius of Tyana 5.1 (a passage also quoted by
Photius); cf. under
alpha 46. The river in question is presumably the Zilis or Zilia (
Ptolemy 4.1.1), the present-day Oued el Kebir or Oued Khobs in Morocco; Barrington Atlas map 28 grid C2.
There was also [NF] an unlocated river called the Saleantes, a branch of the Oxus; Atlas map 6 Apparatus.
