Headword:
*sunh/negke
Adler number: sigma,1563
Translated headword: it was useful
Vetting Status: high
Translation: [Meaning] it has happened rather profitably. "To the Romans this was as useful as it could possibly be."[1]
Also [sc. attested is] sunh/negke.[2]
Greek Original:*sunh/negke: lusitele/steron ge/gone. sunh/negke de\ tou=to *(rwmai/ois e)s o(/ti ma/lista. kai\ *sunh/negke.
Notes:
The headword (third person singular) supplies an aorist for
sumfe/rw.
[1] Quotation unidentifiable in this precise form, though C. Theodoridis in his
Photius edition (vol.II p.XCI) suggests that it might be a loose version of
Polybius 3.68.3:
o(\ dh\ kai\ sfo/dra sunh/negke toi=s *(rwmai/ois.
[2] Adler prints here a repetition of the headword, which can hardly be right. Ms G, she reports, has
suneish/negke (for which see already the gloss at
sigma 1543).
