Translation:
[Meaning] fastenings hard to undo. Pherecrates in Deserters [writes]: "for you, you were always tying strangle-knots."[1]

*straggali/des: ta\ du/sluta a(/mmata. *ferekra/ths *au)tomo/lois: u(mei=s ga\r a)ei\ straggali/das e)sfi/ggete.
Notes:
Likewise in Photius' Lexicon (sigma595 Theodoridis), similarly elsewhere; cf. Hesychius sigma1953. The headword is nominative plural. If it is quoted from somewhere in that form, the extant possibilities are Strattis fr. 48 Kock = 51 K.-A. (from his Phoenician Women) and Aristotle, History of Animals 587b22-23; alternatively it is the accusative plural of the quotation given here, converted into a nominative.
cf. generally sigma 1158.
[1] Pherecrates fr. 21 Kock (25 K.-A.).
Keywords: comedy; definition; dialects, grammar, and etymology; military affairs; science and technology
