The same form appears elsewhere in Homer, however: Iliad 3.194 (with final n) and 23.365, and Odyssey 9.443); cf. also Etymologicum Gudianum 511.24, Etymologicum Magnum 726.13-15; Apollonius Sophistes, Homeric Lexicon 144.16; Hesychius epsilon3305 (s.v. e)n ste/rnois, for which Latte cites Euripides, Phoenissae 134), epsilon1772, epsilon1775; scholia on Nicander, Alexipharmaca 18, 522; Lexicon Casinense of the Poems of Gregory of Nazianzus epsilon104. The headword and the gloss are in the dative plural, the former evidently extracted from a literary source; possibly from the quotation given here -- which the other lexica do not have -- or else and more probably from one of the other sources mentioned above, with which identical or similar glosses are associated. (Theodoridis, following Naber, opts for Iliad 3.194.)
[2] Greek Anthology 6.246.2 (Philodemus or Argentarius), describing one of the dedications to Poseidon by a charioteer victorious in the Isthmian Games; cf. Gow and Page (vol. I, 156-157) and further extracts from this epigram at delta 1245, kappa 1338, kappa 1519, and psi 66. On stylistic grounds, Gow and Page argue (vol. II, 371) that this epigram should be credited to Argentarius.
