Polybius 1.48.2, abridged (web address 1). The "sheds" in question covered the troops who were operating the siege-engines.
The note in Walbank ad loc. (p.111) points out, inter alia, that the Suda gloss here -- and translations which stem from it -- cannot be accepted. The
stasis of a wind is its "setting [...] from a quarter" (LSJ s.v.); so in passages like the one quoted here its actual sense is of a steady, ongoing wind.
