The headword is an aorist passive participle, masculine or neuter dative singular, from the suppletive family of the verb parafe/rw (and is glossed here with the corresponding form of a more canonical member of the same family). This form is independently attested only in Cyril of Alexandria, who has four instances of it (e.g. Commentary on the Gospel of John 1.221), all used to describe a locution (lo/gos or r(hto/n) previously adduced or cited.
