[Meaning] little.
*parakarh/s: o)li/gou.
=
Photius,
Lexicon pi233 Theodoridis.
The headword as transmitted is otherwise unattested. It seems to be glossed as a genitive singular alpha-declension word, for which the nominative would presumably be
parakarh/, but the accent on the headword is not consistent with that interpretation (one would expect
parakarh=s). Probably it is adverbial, with the genitive gloss
o)li/gou ('little', 'few') used in the adverbial sense ('almost', 'a little shy of') of which it is capable.
Adler's apparatus reports some (unhelpful) textual variants, together with the efforts of previous scholars to fathom the entry: Bernhardy proposed
par' a)karh= -- for which cf.
alpha 800,
alpha 801,
alpha 801 -- and S.A. Naber adduced
para\ a)karh= in [
Plato],
Axiochos 366C. See also Theodoridis ad loc.
