Adler number: pi,2638
Translated headword: offer
Vetting Status: high
Translation:
prose/negke; but prosene/gkai [sc. is different]
Greek Original:
*prose/negke: *prosene/gkai de/.
Notes:
Entry lacking, Adler reports, in mss AFV but a marginal addition in A. It seeks to differentiate between two verb forms from prosfe/rw, spelled differently but pronounced (by this era) the same except for accentuation. The first is an aorist active imperative, second person singular. The second could be an aorist active optative (third person singular) but is more probably an aorist active infinitive.
Both forms are presumably quoted from somewhere, and perhaps the same context. If so, the possibilities include LXX Leviticus 9.2 for prose/negke) and 17.4 or 23.37 (for prosene/gkai) and Mark (prose/negke in 1.44, cf. Luke 5.14, same phrase in the story of the leper; prosene/gkai in 2.4).
