[1] The headword is a rare aorist participle of proa/llomai, masculine nominative singular. Outside the present entry it is attested only in -- and perhaps, therefore, extracted from -- Agathias, Histories 1.14.3 (27.22). (But see also next note.)
[2] Bernhardy attributed this quotation to Menander Protector, and it is now MP fr.30.3 Blockley (242-243). (On Narses, see generally nu 42.) The fragment is unplaced. Blockley notes (286 note 323) that it would seem to be from the account of battles in Italy at the end of Justinian's (cf. iota 446 generally) reign.
