Athens has this name. This man is one of the nine archons. Amongst the duties of this man is the introduction of lawsuits, those for neglect of a patron [sc. by a freedman], and [sc. a metic] having no patron,[1] and cases of estates and heiresses where metics are involved; and whatever else the archon does for citizens, the polemarch does for metics. There is also a proper name [Polemarchos], the brother of
Lysias.[2]
