Several places of this name (which essentially means Rocks) are attested, the best-known of which is the one in present-day Jordan; OCD4 s.v.; Barrington Atlas Map 71 grid A5. Capital of the Nabataeans between the C4 BCE and the C2 CE; later an important Christian center.
