The Suda's headword, otherwise unattested, is
foualiklon (or in ms G, as reported by Adler,
foualiskon), but this must be the
foulliklon mentioned in
Athenaeus,
Deipnosophists 1.14F (1.25 Kaibel), where it is said to have been "invented by
Atticus of Naples, trainer of Pompey the Great, for the purposes of physical exercise."
In Latin the form is masculine, though both
Athenaeus and the Suda transliterate it as neuter.
