[fqoi+/s, genitive] fqoi+/dos.[1] A name of a flat-cake.[2] Pastries which they used to sacrifice to the gods with the organ-meats.[3]
In the Epigrams: "and I bring to you, o Demeter, a round cake in a basket on this threshing-floor."[4]
It was customary for the Attic-speakers to pronounce fqoi=s [accusative plural] as a monosyllable. "[I see the priest] snatching up the cakes and the dried figs". Aristophanes in Wealth [sc. says this].[5]
