Headword: *)/oloito
Adler number: omicron,188
Translated headword: I have perished
Vetting Status: high
Translation:
[Meaning] I have died.[1] Also [sc. attested is] o)/loito ["may he/she/it perish"], in the optative.[2]
Greek Original:
*)/olwla: a)po/lwla. kai\ *)/oloito, eu)ktikw=s.
Notes:
The electronic text shows the wrong primary headword here.
[1] The headword -- which must be quoted from somewhere -- is perfect of o)/llumi, first person singular (cf. under omicroniota 195), glossed with the same form of the compound verb a)po/llumi. Comparable equivalences in Hesychius (omicron663, first person plural; see omicron 189), ps.-Herodian, and ps.-Zonaras. The simple verb is archaic and poetic; the compound is regularly used in Attic prose. See also omicron 145, omicron 189, omega 75.
[2] Third person singular, aorist middle optative, of the same verb. Again, evidently quoted from somewhere, but far too common to identify the source.
