Peace 443) is cited for the word, and an etymology given: head or top (
karanon or
kranion) of the
olene, that part of the arm between elbow and hand. The omega-form is the more authentic, but omicron is metrically necessary in the
Peace passage, and in fact both are attested elsewhere: see LSJ s.v.
