[1] Greek Anthology 6.172.4 (author unknown), a Bacchante's dedication to Dionysus; cf. Page (326-328) and further extracts from this epigram at alpha 2220, delta 1033, eta 415, lambda 665, nu 125, and pi 1316. The poet has taken some license here: Bacchantes dressed in fawnskins, wore crowns of ivy, and wrapped vines around their thyrsuses, but, as Page explains (327), "...there is no such thing as an 'ivied fawnskin'".
