[Meaning] an old man's incapacity.
*mu/ghs: ge/rontos a)dunami/a.
Same entry in
Photius (mu565 Theodoridis) and, earlier,
Hesychius (mu1777), with the important proviso that
Hesychius gives the headword itself not as
mu/ghs but as
mu/dhs. The latter could be right if the term means "weeping" eyes (cf.
mu 1374,
mu 1377). In any event, Theodoridis (above) notes Alberti's view that the correct form of the headword should actually be
mu/dh or
mu/dhsis.
For (sc. medical) 'incapacity' cf. under
alpha 522,
alpha 4153.
