[1] In classical Greek the headword is normally a middle verb, the subject of which is the one doing the courting (cf.
mu 1149 and LSJ at web address 1). This gloss, and the fact that it and the headword (the latter presumably quoted from somewhere) are in the feminine gender, shows that the lexicographer is thinking of it as a passive, with the person being courted as the subject.
