Zonaras mu1362, though there -- in modern editions at least -- it is punctuated as headword plus gloss: 'milinon: a colo(u)r'. That the two words are, rather, a single phrase is suggested by their appearance as such in
Eustathius,
Commentary on Homer's Odyssey 2.148, lines 27-28.
The adjective
milinos is unattested outside these three places, but
Eustathius gives the connection with
(s)milax (
mu 1058,
sigma 740); and modern reference-works on bindweed/convolvulus say that it can be used to yield a green dye.
