Headword: *lali/steron
Adler number: lambda,79
Translated headword: more talkative, rather talkative
Vetting Status: high
Translation:
[Meaning] more/rather chatty, more/rather loquacious.
Greek Original:
*lali/steron: fluarw/teron, a)dolesxe/steron.
Notes:
The term and its glosses, all in the comparative degree, are given in what is either the neuter nominative/accusative singular or the masculine accusative singular. For the equally irregular superlative of la/los see lambda 78; and for the present entry's comparative used in longer phrases see rho 60 and under tau 1094.
This contextless lali/steron is similarly glossed in other lexica; see the references at Photius lambda59 Theodoridis. It is probably taken from Attic comedy: there is an instance in Aristophanes (fr. 668 Kock = 684 K.-A.), though the one reported in Menander (fr. 416 Kock) should more probably be a superlative; see under lambda 78.
