[2] This definition reads the noun as passive, as LSJ s.v. notes, but otherwise is active both morphologically and in usage (LSJ s.v). The phrase "deserving of having stones cast" is used by Photius and others to define kataleu/simon, as is seen at kappa 615; the Suda may have copied this definition across. The negative connotations for the active sense presumably associates execution by stoning with mob rule, so a leusth/r is someone who takes the law into his own hands.
