Greek Anthology 6.44.3-4 (attributed by some to
Leonidas of
Tarentum), on Heronax's libations to Satyrs and Dionysus after first vintages from new vineyards; cf. Gow and Page (vol. I, 137), (vol. II, 391-392), and other extracts from this epigram at
delta 1490 and
omicroniota 139. To credit the author of this epigram, the
Anthologia Palatina pointed toward some as attesting
Leonidas of
Tarentum; cf. Gow and Page (vol. I, 137). And these attributions were further endorsed by the
Anthologia Planudea as coming from
Leonidas (ibid.). However, Gow and Page note (vol. II, 391) that although the text appears to be Leonidean, this is still true of many imitative epigrams, and this may have suggested the assertion that this was
Leonidas's. In fact, after all of this, Gow and Page (vol. II, p. 391) are inclined to reject this epigram as being genuinely Leonidean (ibid.).
