But [the adjective] kleitos [means] famous.[2]

Clouds 348, where this "son of Xenophantes" is mentioned. For the hairiness of a Hieronymos, presumably this same one, see also
alpha 676, from
Acharnians 388ff. Hieronymos son of Xenophantes (RE 9A.1564 'Xenophantes 2') wrote dithyrambs, tragedies and comedies (RE 8.1564 'Hieronymos 14'). The only likely explanation of the name given him as the headword here is that the adjective was applied to him in one of Suda's sources.
