Translation: Aristophanes [sc. says this]. This man would always shave. So [the phrase] is said about those who always shave. He was [the son] of Sibyrtios; and he did this to look young always.[1] Straton used to do the same.[2] "O hot-tempered shaven arsehole! You come to us, you ape, as a eunuch, yet with such a beard rigged up? And who might this one be? Isn't it Straton?"[3]

Archilochus fr.187 West "with such an arse (
pugh/n)", substituted with "chin = beard" (
pw/gwn').
