For Bithynian Kios, on the south shore of the Propontis, see delta 412 and mu 1204 (also kappa 1476 and kappa 1658). The present entry seems to be connected with the passage of Polybius (on events of the late C3 BCE) quoted there. In any event, Favuzzi [see under alpha 1596] 205-206 now finds vocabulary-based grounds for attributing the present phrase to Polybius; cf. theta 350.
