[Meaning] ornamented.
*kekasme/non: kekosmhme/non.
The perfect middle-passive of the poetic verb
kai/numi is glossed with the prose verb
kosme/w. The verb originally meant "to excel"; the sense "to adorn, to furnish" is attested from
Pindar (LSJ s.v.), but can be read into Homeric instances of the participle like
Odyssey 4.725: "excelling in all virtues among the Danaans"/"adorned by all virtues among the Danaans". The present entry follows a scholion on this verse and is also the same as or similar to entries in other lexica and
scholia; see the references at
Photius kappa525 Theodoridis.
