Also [sc. attested is the related participle] kaxektou=ntes ["they being in ill health"], [meaning] they managing their condition (e(/cis) badly (kakw=s),[1] they being sick. Polybius [writes]: "the courage of Perseus was exhausted by toil and time, just like that of athletes in ill-health. For when the danger approached, and it was his duty to fight a decisive battle, his courage broke down."[2]
