Note:
Scarcely attested outside lexicography, though 'Theodoros the Ilibinian (sic)' appears in a military narrative in Theophylact Simocatta,
Histories 2.4.3 (and
Theophanes Confessor); cf. de Boor (75) and Whitby (47). Theodoros the Ilibinian (Theodore Ilibinus) was evidently the bodyguard of the Roman general Heraclius (cf. PLRE IIIa s.v. Heraclius(3)) and was ordered by the general to help break up impromtu looting by troops on the Roman right wing at the Battle of Solachon (spring of 586; cf.
alpha 141 note).
