Headword: *)hfeidh/keisan
Adler number: eta,662
Translated headword: they had been lavish
Vetting Status: high
Translation:
Also [sc. attested is the related participle] h)feidhko/tes ["they having been lavish"], [meaning] hindering, not sparing.[1]
Greek Original:
*)hfeidh/keisan. kai\ *)hfeidhko/tes, katapau/santes, mh\ feisa/menoi.
Notes:
The unglossed primary headword is third person plural, pluperfect, of a)feide/w; the supplementary one is the perfect active participle, masculine nominative plural, of the same verb. Both must be quoted from somewhere.
cf. alpha 4595.
[1] Same glossing in other lexica, but 'hindering' cannot be right; Theodoridis obelizes it. One could supply a negative, as with the second gloss, but in fact the participle itself should be kataptu/santes "behaving with contempt" (as in Hesychius eta989).
