The headword phrase in the accusative case (here it is nominative) comes from
John 9.1 (Christ sees a man who is
tuflo\n e)k geneth=s, and declares that neither the man nor his parents -- the alternatives put to him by the disciples -- are to blame for his condition). It is echoed, presumably accidentally, by
Sextus Empiricus,
Against the Professors 11.238.
