[Meaning a] type of grass.[1]
But it also means the fruitless plant.
Greek Original:
*)ere/yimon: ei)=dos po/as. shmai/nei de\ kai\ to\ a)/karpon futo/n.
Notes:
A dubious entry (repeated in ps.-Zonaras), because the headword is an adjective -- here in the neuter nominative/accusative singular -- meaning "of/for roofing"; cf. epsilon 2945, xi 99, and see LSJ s.v.
The glosses given here are otherwise unsupported, and LSJ is silent on the problem. Perhaps [DW] misunderstanding stemmed from a passage such as Plato, Critias 111C (involving trees: see under xi 99). Hesychius' glossing of the present headword as a boskhmatw=des place adds a further complication if LSJ is right to register only instances of that adjective as brutish, bestial; but conceivably it means 'providing pasturage' (cf. beta 399).
[1] Likewise, according to Adler, in the Ambrosian Lexicon (1990).
