*)eretmw=sai
Adler number: epsilon,2938
Translated headword: to set to row
Vetting Status: high
Translation: [Meaning] to pull an oar.
Greek Original:*)eretmw=sai: kwphlath=sai.
Notes:
Same entry, according to Adler, in the
Ambrosian Lexicon. The headword is aorist active infinitive of the verb
e)retmo/w. It must be quoted from somewhere -- very probably
Euripides,
Medea 4, though if so the glossing does not properly convey the transitive sense employed there (
e)retmw=sai xe/ras; cf. LSJ s.v.). A scholiast to the line does better with
kw/pais kaqopli/sai, as does
Hesychius epsilon5743 (
kw/pais a(rmo/sai).
cf.
epsilon 2933,
epsilon 2937.
