Thucydides 2.77.3 (web address 1) on the Spartan siege of Plataea in 431-427 BCE; again -- but, incorrectly, not with a compound verb -- at pi 550.
The present entry glosses e)pipare/nhsan as we see here (repeated in ps.-Zonaras). The scholia to it have a different synonym: the otherwise unattested (and uncomprehending) sunh=rcan.
