Zonaras (see further below). The headword phrase, in the neuter plural, must be quoted from somewhere. One might think, from this attempt at glossing it, that its meaning was particularly obscure, but the out-of-place 'godlike' (
qeoeidh=) surely needs emendation. (This whole phrase is ignored in ps.-
Zonaras.) Adler notes Hermann's proposal of
sigmoeidh= ('crescent-shaped', i.e. semi-circular).
