Headword: *)epedi/kase
Adler number: epsilon,2029
Translated headword: he adjudicated
Vetting Status: high
Translation:
['He adjudicated'] and 'they won the adjudication'. Demosthenes in the [speech] Against Olympiodoros [sc. uses these words]. To say 'he adjudicated' effectively means he[1] made an award, whereas 'they won the adjudication' is tantamount to saying they persuaded the jurors to award them the estate.

Notes:
From Harpokration s.v., commenting on Demosthenes 48.26 & 27 (web address 1). In ch.26 the present headword (active voice) occurs; in ch. 27 it is the middle-voice e)pedika/santo, i.e. third-person plural. Harpok. reproduces this grammar correctly throughout, whereas the Suda twice lurches into third-person singulars (ignored in the present translation).
[1] The archon (explicit in Demosth. 48.26).
