Valesius, followed by Müller, Jacoby and Adler, would assign this to a lost passage from the Strategemata of Constantine Porphyrogenitus that is referred to in Constantine's Excerpta de virtutibus I.330 at the end of a much longer quotation from Nicolaus (FGrH 90 F4) on the subject of Nan(n)aros. Now claimed by Lenfant (below) as a fragment of Ctesias, however.
