Adler number: epsilon,1566
Translated headword: having made ready
Vetting Status: high
Translation:
[Meaning he] having made full, or having prepared.
Greek Original:
*)ecartu/sas: e)kplhrw/sas, h)\ e(toima/sas.
Notes:
Aorist participle, masculine nominative singular, of the verb e)cartu/w; evidently quoted from somewhere.
Same glossing in ps.-Zonaras 765.13; for e)kplhrw/sas see Lexica Segueriana 223.22. With this sense, the participle is very common in Byzantine historical prose, but the first occurrence (and the only one outside Medieval Greek) is Diodorus Siculus 18.72.7, on Antigonus preparing his warships.
cf. generally epsilon 1565, epsilon 1567.
