Greek Anthology 6.203.3-4 (by Lacon or Philip of Thessalonica): a lame old woman leaves her staff as a thankful gift to the Nymphs, after they heal her leg out of compassion. [1] Rather than poq' e(rpu/zousa "once [came] crawling", the text should probably read poqerpu/zousa "crawling forwards", as accepted in modern editions of the epigram. This is a Doric form of proserpu/zousa; cf. the more common poqe/rpw for prose/rpw.
