A condition that afflicts sows. There are three conditions: sore throat, fever, diarrhea. So sore throat is [a condition] of one part of the body, while fever [is] a burning heat accompanied by headache. This is evidenced by drooping ears and downcast eyes. So diarrhea is untreatable, but herdsmen treat fever with infusions, while in the case of sore throat they cut off the little pieces of flesh that have putrefied.
