The English metaphor of a flower is not found here in the Greek. All three verbs are compounded with the preposition dia ("through"). The author understands the headword to mean "to cut through a girl (kore)," i.e. "to cut through a maiden (parthenos)."
Likewise or similarly in other lexica. Ancient comment on this verb -- here in the aorist infinitive -- was generated by its occurrence in Aristophanes, Thesmophoriazusae 480.
