[Meaning] bringing one's life to an end forcibly. "In a part of the path they observed a Roman soldier on the point of a painful death, his body adorned by four wounds".[1]
Greek Original:
*dusqanatw=nta: biai/ws to\n bi/on katastre/fonta. e)n de/ tini moi/ra| th=s a)trapou= dusqanatw=nta stratiw/thn *(rwmai=on perieble/yanto, te/trasi bolai=s to\ sw=ma kosmou/menon.
Notes:
Same entry in ps.-Zonaras. The headword (extracted from the quotation given) and the gloss are present participles in the masculine accusative singular.
For the verb dusqanata/w see LSJ s.v.; it is not to be confused with dusqanate/w (which would give rise to the participle dusqanatou=nta), I die hard/struggle against death.
