And Aeschylus says, "for I do not want to appear, but to be, right".[4]

Notes:
[1] This primary headword (evidently extracted from somewhere) is the aorist active participle, masculine nominative singular, of the verb dokima/zw, glossed with the same of kri/nw; same gloss in Synagoge delta337, Hesychius delta2124. The glosses given here seem to exclude as a source attestations of the common idiomatic construal of the word with a complementary infinitive -- e.g. Constantine Porphyrogenitus, Excerpta de virtutibus et vitiis 1.7.19, and Anna Comnena 9.8.1, where the sense is 'thinking it advisable to...'; cf. generally epsilon 245.
[2] Dative plural (feminine) of the aorist passive participle of the same verb (cf. delta 1328), presumably extracted from the quotation that immediately follows.
[3] Menander Protector fr. 18.4 Blockley (160-163). Zacharias is the name of the archiatrus sacri Palatii; cf. Excerpta Constantini, De legationibus 199.27, with a more extended text and slight differences (u(po\ *traianou= kai\ *zaxari/ou instead of u(po\ *zaxari/ou). As to 'Tanchosdro', it seems to have been a honour title (meaning "strength of Chosroes") rather than a proper name; also at epsilon 962, tau 89. See Blockley (273, note 199). On Chosroes see chi 418 generally. On Zacharias see PLRE IIIb s.v. Zacharias(2) and epsilon 2058. On the late C6 Persian general Tanchosdro see PLRE IIIb s.v. Tamchosroes. See further excerpts from this fragment at theta 413 and pi 1114.
[4] Aeschylus, Seven Against Thebes 592 (web address 1); see already under delta 1070. This quotation illustrates a distinct, though related, verb, doke/w ('seem').
