[1] The headword is presumably extracted from the quotation given. For dia/gw in this sense, cf. delta 519.
[2] John of Antioch fr.52 FHG (4.557), now 118 Roberto; the only one of the many quotations from him in the Suda which is expressly attributed to him. (See already under alpha 1528, though unattributed there and with an inferior text.) The unnamed subject of the sentence is presumably Q. Fabius Maximus 'Cunctator'.
