[Meaning one who is] tending to [someone/something] medically.
*)akeio/menos: qerapeuo/menos.
Same entry, according to Adler, in the
Ambrosian Lexicon. The headword is an epic present participle, masculine nominative singular, of the verb
a)ke/omai. If it has been quoted in this precise form, the only extant possibility is Quintus of
Smyrna (C4 AD),
Posthomerica 6.458, but more probably the entry has been generated, as Adler implies, by Homeric instances in other cases:
Iliad 16.29 (masculine nominative plural) or
Odyssey 14.383 (masculine accusative singular).
The same synonym is given at
alpha 845 and
alpha 847; and see the discussion of this verb at
alpha 856.
