Etymologicum Magnum 16.35 has a longer version of the same entry; Apollonius (
Homeric Lexicon) and
Hesychius the same headword but with different glossing. The headword itself, neuter nominative/accusative singular of this adjective, is doubtless quoted from
Homer,
Odyssey 20.2 (cf. 142), of leather, though note that in Apollonius Rhodius,
Argonautica 4.1439, the present gloss and headword occur in reverse order.
